Broadway’s ‘Death Becomes Her’ Announces Final Performance Date

The Broadway musical “Death Becomes Her” has announced its final performance, set for June 28 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The production opened November 21, 2024, and will end its run after less than a year on Broadway.

The show stars Betsy Wolfe as Madeline Ashton and Jennifer Simard as Helen Sharp. The musical follows two longtime rivals who discover a potion that grants eternal youth, leading to unexpected and often darkly comedic consequences.

“Death Becomes Her” is based on the 1992 film written by Martin Donovan and David Koepp. The stage adaptation features a book by Marco Pennette and an original score by Julia Mattison and Noel Carey. The production is directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli.

In a statement, Universal Theatrical Group Senior Vice President Lowe Cunningham shared, “Bringing Death Becomes Her to Broadway has been an incredible joy, and we are immensely proud of every artist, musician, crew member, and individual who helped make this show what it is.”

“Night after night, it has been a thrill to watch audiences come together to laugh, celebrate, and embrace the wildly entertaining spirit of this production,” Cunningham continued. “We are deeply proud of what this show has brought into the world, and we are excited for its life to continue as it tours across the U.S. and beyond in the years ahead.”

The current cast also includes Christopher Sieber, Michelle Williams, Taurean Everett, and Josh Lamon, along with a full ensemble. Casting is by Tara Rubin Casting.

The creative team includes scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designer Justin Townsend, and sound designer Peter Hylenski. Hair and wig design is by Charles J. LaPointe, with makeup design by Joe Dulude II.

Notably, a North American tour of “Death Becomes Her” is scheduled to begin in September at Playhouse Square in Cleveland, Ohio. Additional tour dates are expected to be announced.
