Broadway stars Lencia Kebede and Allie Trimm will play their final performances in “Wicked” on March 1. Kebede made history as the first Black actor to play the role of Elphaba full-time on Broadway, while Trimm currently stars as Glinda.
Both performers shared the news on social media on January 9. Kebede wrote, “I can’t really begin to talk about how I feel about this life-changing year of my life or else I’ll prob throw up and die, but anyways this is a PSA that my last show in Wicked is MARCH 1ST friends. SUNDAY, MARCH THE FIRST. COME THRU. And don’t say I didn’t tell you okay.”
Trimm took to social media and shared, “Sweet Oz! Final Glinda performance is March 1! “
“Wicked” began previews on Broadway on October 8, 2003, and officially opened on October 30. The show is currently the fourth longest-running production in Broadway history and celebrated its 20th anniversary in October 2023.
It features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman and is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West.”

The Broadway production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costume design by Susan Hilferty, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, sound design by Tony Meola, and projections by Elaine J. McCarthy. Tom Watson handles wig and hair design, while Stephen Oremus supervises music and arrangements. Orchestrations are by William David Brohn, and dance arrangements are by James Lynn Abbott. Casting is by the Telsey Office.
Since its Broadway debut, “Wicked” has won multiple awards, including 2004 Tony Awards for Best Actress in a Musical (Idina Menzel), Best Costume Design (Hilferty), and Best Scenic Design (Lee). The production reopened on September 14, 2021, following pandemic-related closures and continues to attract audiences worldwide. It is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Stage Productions, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt, and David Stone.
