George Strait announced a show at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth in 2019, and when tickets went on sale on Friday, the gig was sold-out in half an hour.
Fans reportedly waited in a queue that was thousands of people long, and when the 14,000-seat arena sold-out in under an hour, tickets were popping up on resale sites for quadruple the price. Fans shared screenshots of the queue, which showed that “2,000+” people were in line in front of them.
What a joke. Thanks for nothing Dickies. Its truly sad that ticket scalping is a huge business. Fans without tons of money miss out. I can’t afford $750 a ticket. pic.twitter.com/8Mnr4vhClG

After waiting in the queue, many were able to access Ticketmaster’s verified resale tickets – some which added up to $800 per seat. The would-be concert goers lashed out at the ticketing site, noting that an easier system should have been implemented.
$800 each for @GeorgeStrait tics for UPPER LEVEL at @DickiesArena . If these were scalper resale prices I wouldn’t be as upset, but these are first sale @Ticketmaster prices NOT resale. RIDICULOUS! #outpricedme pic.twitter.com/LydSTyRnks

What happened to $20 tickets. Cheapest found were 350-1200. Ridiculous. Who can afford that?

Come on! We have to do better! I am literally flying to New York next week to a fight at Madison Square Garden and it is cheaper than GS concert in Fort Worth. $250 tixs not bad but $900? $585? This BULL SMFH pic.twitter.com/E6vhhnd8CB

@DickiesArena I have to agree with most of the negative comments about this George Strait show next year. Too expensive for a hometown show and Allowing “verified” resale for $5k? Are you kidding me?? Wow just wow.

The Fort Worth show will be a part of George Strait’s handful of gigs in 2019. He will kick-off the new year in Nashville during Willie: Life & Songs of an American Outlaw and continue with a pair of shows in Las Vegas in February. From there, he will make stops at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Ohio Stadium in Columbus.
