iHeartRadio’s ALTer EGO festival, slated to take place on Saturday, January 11, has officially been called-off due to the ongoing, devastating wildfires in Southern California.
The 8th annual edition of the festival was set to take over the Kia Forum in Inglewood with headlining performances from the rockers of Cage the Elephant, The Offspring, and Fontaines D.C., as well as Glass Animals, Incubus, St. Vincent, and The Lumineers.
However, festival organizers took to social media on Thursday to share that “with heavy hearts,” they’ve decided to cancel the show.
“The devastation from the fires is beyond comprehension,” the festival said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the Los Angeles community and listeners who have been affected by this tragedy. We also want to recognize and thank all the first responders. We love our city and are putting health and safety first.”
Organizers noted that refunds will be available via point of purchase after 10 a.m. Friday morning.

This is not the only event that has been effected by the fires; gigs across Los Angeles this weekend have been called-off or postponed, including rapper Rod Wave’s show at the Intuit Dome, comedian Jeff Arcuri’s gig at The Wiltern, and Annika Rose’s concert at The Troubadour. While nothing has been confirmed at this time, Monday night’s wild-card playoff game between the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium may need to be postponed; there is a contingency plan that involves moving the game to Arizona’s State Farm Stadium in Glendale, if necessary.

Los Angeles is currently experiencing the most destructive fire in the city’s history. Five major blazes are burning across the metropolis — killing at least five people and leaving 130,000 people under evacuation orders or warnings as of Thursday morning.
The largest blaze at this time is the Palisades Fire, burning between Malibu and Santa Monica across 17,200 acres. Other active fires include the Eaton Fire in Altadena, Hurst Fire and Lidia Fire in San Fernando Valley, and the Sunset Fire in Hollywood Hills.
