Bruce Springsteen’s latest U.S. tour opened with a political broadside—and drew an unusually personal response from President Donald Trump, reigniting a high-profile feud between the White House and one of America’s most influential artists.
Springsteen kicked off his 2026 Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour on March 31 in Minneapolis with a nearly three-hour performance that blended music and overt political commentary, a tone that immediately pushed the tour into the center of the national conversation.
“We are here in celebration and defense of our American ideals,” he told the audience. “Democracy, our Constitution and our sacred American promise… the America that I love… is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, racist, reckless, and treasonous administration.”
He then called on concertgoers to join him “in choosing hope over fear, democracy over authoritarianism, the rule of law over lawlessness, ethics over unbridled corruption, resistance over complacency, unity over division, and peace over war.”
The remarks transitioned into performances of “War” and “Born in the U.S.A.,” giving the opening stretch of the show a distinctly political tone.
The Minneapolis performance quickly prompted a response from President Donald Trump, continuing a long-running public feud between the two figures. Springsteen has been one of Trump’s most prominent critics in recent years, while Trump has repeatedly attacked the singer in speeches, social media posts and past disputes involving the use of Springsteen’s music at campaign events.
Following the concert, Trump posted a lengthy message on Truth Social criticizing Springsteen and calling for a boycott of the tour.
“Bad, and very boring singer, Bruce Springsteen, who looks like a dried up prune who has suffered greatly from the work of a really bad plastic surgeon, has long had a horrible and incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, sometimes referred to as TDS,” Trump wrote.
“The guy is a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election, including the popular vote, all Seven Swing States, and 86% of the Counties across America,” he added.
“Under Sleepy Joe and the Dems, our Country was DEAD, and now we have the ‘hottest’ Country, by far, anywhere in the World. MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK!!! President DJT”
The reaction online was swift and divided. Taking to X, a number of users criticized Springsteen and echoed complaints that the singer is overrated or too political.
Many others, however, voiced support for Springsteen, praising his message and suggesting the President should focus on more pressing national issues.
The latest exchange also adds to a broader escalation in Trump’s rhetoric toward Springsteen and other entertainers. Last May, Trump publicly lashed out at several artists who supported then-Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris during the 2024 election, including Springsteen, Beyoncé, Oprah and Bono, and said he wanted federal investigations into payments tied to campaign appearances.
That came after Springsteen had criticized the administration during a May 14 performance in Manchester, where he described the U.S. government as “corrupt, incompetent and treasonous.” Trump responded at the time by calling the singer “highly overrated” and a “pushy obnoxious jerk,” warning that Springsteen “ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the country.”
Beyond the political discourse, the tour has also faced scrutiny over ticket prices. When the first batch of seats went on sale, some listings reportedly climbed as high as $2,957, triggering backlash from fans on social media.
Some have questioned whether those prices align with Springsteen’s long‑standing reputation as a voice for working‑class Americans, with critics describing the costs as out of touch or even hypocritical.
Beyond the political fallout, the tour has also drawn renewed scrutiny over ticket prices—an issue that has followed Springsteen throughout recent touring cycles and taken on added weight amid his renewed “working‑class” rhetoric.
Bruce Springsteen Ticket Prices – Is The Boss Out of Touch?
As Springsteen’s 2026 tour continues to generate attention for both its onstage commentary and the reaction surrounding it, ticket pricing and demand remain part of the conversation. With the second show set for April 3 at Portland’s Moda Center, the tour then moves through Inglewood, Phoenix, Newark, Austin, Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Boston before concluding May 27 in Washington, D.C., at Nationals Park.
Against that backdrop, resale prices offer another measure of how the market is responding as the tour moves from city to city—and as Springsteen and President Trump spar publicly. According to Ticket Club data, average resale prices for most upcoming dates sit at or well above $500 per ticket.
Phoenix currently stands out as the primary exception, averaging $341 per ticket, while six tour dates are posting average asking prices above $1,000.
